Early Years Education at ISSPb International School

ISSPb International School welcomes children from the age of 3 into its Early Years programme (Nursery from age 3 and Reception from age 4, equivalent to preschool and kindergarten in the Russian education system). The programme is delivered entirely in English and is designed to support the child’s holistic development in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Our curriculum is based on the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), one of the world’s most respected and effective frameworks for early childhood education. We follow leading British and international educational practices while providing a caring and individualized approach to every child.

Upon completion of the Early Years programme, children progress to Primary School and join Year 1 at the age of 5–6.

At this stage, learning is primarily achieved through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences.

An extended day programme is available until 7:00 PM. After the core academic programme, children participate in additional activities aligned with Russian preschool educational standards. These activities help reinforce knowledge of numbers and letters, expand vocabulary, develop clear pronunciation, and encourage participation in educational games, creative activities, and outdoor play.

Kindergarten – ISSPb Kids Club (Ages 3–4)

ISSPb Kids Club is the kindergarten programme of ISSPb International School for children aged 3 to 4 years.

Core Programme: 8:20 AM – 3:00 PM

Children participate in a full English-language programme led by a native English-speaking teacher. Through games, songs, creative activities, and everyday communication, children are immersed in a natural English-speaking environment.

The programme focuses on:

• Natural acquisition of English;
• Speech and language development;
• Fine motor skills;
• Social and emotional development;
• Curiosity and confidence in learning.

Extended Day Programme: 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Available upon request and charged separately.

During the afternoon session, children participate in engaging activities conducted in either Russian or English, including:

• Club activities and themed days;
• Board games and educational resources;
• Music and dance sessions;
• Arts and crafts;
• Physical activities and sports games;
• Storytelling, role-play, and dramatic play;
• Exploring the world through experiments and observation.

Important

Children may also join only the Extended Day Programme (3:00 PM – 6:30 PM) without attending the morning core programme.

School Readiness Programme (Ages 4–6)

ISSPb International School offers a School Readiness Programme for children aged 4 to 6 years.

English-Language Programme: 8:20 AM – 3:00 PM

Classes are taught in English by a native English-speaking teacher and include:

• English language development (pronunciation, phonics, speaking skills, and vocabulary building);
• Early reading and writing skills;
• Numeracy and introductory mathematics in English;
• Fine motor skills development;
• Music education (singing, rhythm, and introduction to musical instruments);
• Play-based learning and creative activities.

Afternoon Programme: 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Children continue their English-language studies and participate in a Russian-language preschool preparation programme aligned with the Federal State Educational Standards (FGOS).

The programme focuses on:

• Speech and language development;
• Vocabulary enrichment;
• Early mathematical concepts;
• Development of logical thinking, memory, attention, and imagination;
• Literacy readiness (sounds, letters, and phonemic awareness);
• Understanding the world around us and developing social skills;
• Building independence and communication skills.

All lessons are delivered through engaging play-based methodologies and modern educational approaches, ensuring children are well-prepared for a successful transition to school.

Important

Children may enrol exclusively in the School Readiness Programme without attending the morning core programme.
