A-Levels (Advanced Level qualifications) are subject-based qualifications typically taken by students aged 16–18 over two years.
They are widely recognised by universities and employers worldwide including Russell Group universities in the UK, Ivy League schools in the USA and prestigious universities throughout Europe, Oceania and Asia.
They allow students to specialise in subjects of their choice.
Students choose 3 to 4 subjects to study which are then studied in depth over two years.
AS level exams are taken at the end of Year 12 and final A level exams are taken at the end of Year 13.
Provide in-depth knowledge in key subjects – much more than alternative programmes.
Some degrees have specific A-Level subject requirements (e.g., Medicine requires Biology and Chemistry), so it is vital to consider possible courses of university study when selecting A-levels.
Importantly, help them choose subjects that align with their abilities, interests, and goals. The school will also provide advice as required.
Encourage consistent study habits and revision and support them in managing stress and workload.
Our 6th Form Co-ordinator and Head of Secondary will help your child stay informed about university entry requirements and deadlines and assist in preparing applications.
