Alisa Trukhan — fine arts teacher

“Why is a raven like a writing desk?” – the mathematician, photographer and writer Lewis Carroll once asked in a book familiar to everyone from childhood. This quote inspires me to seek an extraordinary point of view, involves me in the game with interpretations and reminds me of the importance of curiosity. Without it, it is difficult to explore both – the world of science and the world of creativity.

Art has always been a field that resonates with me more than others, but my love for it goes beyond traditional academic processes. Photography, cinematography, digital art, game design – these and other areas of the technical side of art have become my field of interest. I have two higher education degrees. One in the field of cinematography and photography, and the other in art history. Both of these degrees helped me organise my work as a teacher at a children’s art school, where I worked for several years. As a teacher I use an integrated approach, because I believe that theory and practice should go side by side in the development of creative abilities. If you don’t know the rules, how can you break them?

Art is my profession, my hobby, my passion. When I’m not interacting with art, I spend time outdoors, because I really like to travel to new places.

I hope I will be able to share with the students of the ISSPB the same feeling of joy that art gives me every day.
