David Signer — teacher

My teaching motto is: “Tell me, and I forget. Teach me, and I remember. Involve me, and I’ll learn.” These famous words from Benjamin Franklin have been the foundation of my teaching methodology – making lessons memorable by involving students in the learning process.

Having completed my PGCE through the University of Keele, I have worked in an IB school in Moscow for the past six years, where I gathered invaluable experience on how to help students develop their inquiry, knowledge and confidence.

With eight years of experience, I have always found myself a dynamic, fun, and engaging teacher who likes to make lessons enjoyable for students. If students go home at the end of the day and do not tell their parents something interesting that they have done, learned, investigated, or achieved that day, I don’t fully feel fulfilled with my work.

Outside of school, I am an avid athlete with a passion for triathlon and tennis. With more than 55 medals over the past five years and 5 Ironman 70.3 races completed, including in Portugal and Switzerland, I am driven by the excitement of new challenges.

My professional and personal life walk side by side. They both involve a great deal of perseverance, hard work and an ability to never give up no matter how difficult the challenge might seem. There’s always a way to improve yourself and there is always a method to get better results.

I am so excited to be part of the International School of St. Petersburg and I can’t wait for the new experiences and opportunities the school year will bring to me as a professional and to my students.
