The Building Blocks of Academic Success

The development of the primary education program starts from Year 1 and focuses on developing a solid foundation in reading, writing and mathematics. Classes are conducted in an active and lively manner. Children work on tasks that develop their critical thinking, as well as their analytical and intellectual abilities.

Overview of the elementary school curriculum

An international school is a place where children have the opportunity to develop and achieve success. Learning is not limited to the classroom. It extends to the sports field, stage and science laboratory. It comes to life in so many experiences.

Our teachers strive to create an atmosphere that sparks interest in learning and contributes to the personal development of each child. Not only do students quickly begin to understand the significance of academic achievement, but they also gain the ability to see a more complete picture of individual and group success. Every student at the school, regardless of age, contributes to the life of the school community. We encourage leadership qualities and initiative.

The class size is small and this allows teachers to provide each child with the maximum support and attention needed to achieve their best results. Qualified teachers, professional musicians and coaches help students develop in various directions.

The International School’s curriculum aims to provide a strong foundation and a well-rounded approach to learning so that students excel in areas of interest or aptitude.

The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum (ENC), adapted for international use and expanded to achieve a high level of knowledge.

While core subjects such as English, Maths and Science form the centerpiece of the curriculum, our integrated curriculum for Years 1-5 offers a wide range of topics including Computer Science, Geography, Art & Design and History. All students have access to subject specialist teachers in art, music, physical education and French. As an international school, we place great importance on language learning and provide students with the opportunity to acquire a high level of fluency in three languages.

We want students to try their hand at different disciplines. Each of our students learns to play a musical instrument, participates in drama productions and in one of our diverse and enriching after school programs. The schedule also includes study trips, excursions and many other extracurricular activities.

At the start of each year, parents are provided with a student pack outlining the end of year expectations that a child should be achieving according to UK standards. These targets are discussed in Parent Teacher meetings and bi-annual reports.
