The Russian Curriculum

We understand the importance of our native Russian students continuing and learning studies in their local language. From Grade 1, we offer them the ability to take end of the year attestation in order to pass their exams in the subjects required under state legislation.

Federal State Educational Standards (FSES)

The main and constant goal of the International School of St. Petersburg is to teach and achieve high results according to the English national curriculum. However, our native Russian students can combine this program with the Russian one, built on the basis of the Federal State Educational Standard (FSES NOO and LLC).

After graduating from school at 16, with both iGCSE and OGE, students can continue their education in either a British, Russian or IB system.

Educational Subjects

As part of the main curriculum timetable, students in both primary and secondary school are taught Russian Language or Russian as an additional language four times a week.

The adapted curriculum allows them to continue their studies and prepare for the annual attestations in Russian Language.

After the main curriculum, primary school students are encouraged to study subjects such as mathematics, the environment and reading. The high school curriculum includes mathematics (algebra and geometry), history and social studies, literature, geography, biology, physics and chemistry.

Certification

The Russian program offers support in mastering the above disciplines and subsequent passing of an exam in each subject at the end of the academic year.

Upon successful completion of the attestation, the student receives a document confirming the mastery of the educational program of the class in which they studied.

The dual curriculum allows students to master the discipline and continue their achievements in their native language.

Comparison of education systems

The Russian and British education systems are both similar and different. A comparison of the programs showed that most areas of individual disciplines are considered from different angles. The methods of mathematical calculations are also different. It is also necessary to prepare for the meaningful perception of material in both languages simultaneously.

The combination of two education systems allows students of our school not only to study in the future at a foreign and domestic educational institution, but also to master disciplines comprehensively and at a deeper level.
